Rough Green Snake

I think we can all agree that this rough green snake is cute enough to be an accessory but this Opheodrys aestivus, isn't interested in being a bracelet- it's only interest is insects, snails, tree frogs, arthropods and a healthy habitat on the river.

We're joining up with Paul Laurent & Amanda Curl of Black River Outdoors on a new series about snakes.

Our mission is to increase community awareness about the snakes that currently call the Waccamaw River home and engage our community in helping to protect clean water and vital wildlife habitats.

So jump in the river and get virtually wet with us each month as we explore the world of snakes.

Opheodrys aestivus, commonly known as the rough green snake, is a nonvenomous North American colubrid.
