Winyah Rivers Alliance, its staff and volunteers, are following the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the recommendations of our state and local agencies responsible for protecting the public health during the declared pandemic.
Much of our work can be accomplished remotely and independently, including field work and water quality monitoring by our staff. Many of our meetings have been cancelled or postponed. Other meetings will be held either by conference call or virtually via the Internet. We are making every effort to socially distance ourselves to prevent the spread of coronavirus and we encourage our volunteers and our entire community to take recommended precautions.
We are in the midst of our 50 Days of Cleanups (March 3 – April 21) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22). We’ll update information about the scheduled cleanups so check our Public Calendar here>> But, if you feel so inclined, we encourage you to do a cleanup on your own or with a small group (<10 people & maintain distance per the recommendations). If you do, report your data here:
During this time, we are continuing to monitor the health of our rivers and watersheds, communicating with partners, including our volunteer water quality monitors and our Adopt-a-Landing volunteers, and trying our best to sustain our mission to protect, preserve, monitor and revitalize the health of the lands and waters of the greater Winyah Bay watershed.
We are available if/when you need us:
As always, we encourage you to enjoy our wonderful rivers and to find solace in the nature that surrounds us.
