You are invited to join millions of people across the globe in sampling your local waters for World Water Monitoring Day!
Since 2003, people across the world have been participating in the global education outreach program sponsored by EarthEcho International. Aiming to build public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources, the program empowers citizens to perform basic monitoring of their local water bodies.
From September 18th through October 18th, we invite you to celebrate World Water Monitoring Day with us by participating in water monitoring in your local river, tributary, lake, pond, swamp.
Become part of a worldwide event monitoring water quality all over the globe.
Winyah Rivers Alliance invites everyone who participates in a water monitoring activity from September 18th to October 18th to submit their water quality data online here:
The EarthEcho Water Challenge is the one of the world’s largest citizen science programs empowering more than 1.6 million young people and community members in 146 countries to connect with and protect their local waterways. Participants monitor water quality in their communities, share their findings through a global online database, and use the data collected to develop projects to protect water resources.
Winyah Rivers Alliance is proud to have partnered with EarthEcho Water Challenge since the mid 2000s, contributing water quality data collected by our volunteers and engaging youth in watershed stewardship.
Winyah Rivers Alliance focuses on the greater Winyah Bay watershed for our World Water Monitoring Day event.
The greater Winyah Bay watershed – also called the Lower Pee Dee basin – drains an area of 11,700 square miles in North and South Carolina, as shown.
We have active volunteers monitoring water quality in each of our river watersheds! We’re excited that their data collected from September 18th to October 18th will be included in World Water Monitoring Day!
Participate in World Water Monitoring Day anytime between September 18th and October 18th and enter your water quality data here:
Your data can help protect swimmable, fishable, drinkable water in your area, your state, and beyond!
