The Lumber River is #4 on the American Rivers’ List of America’s Most Endangered Rivers for 2026.

A message from our Lumber Riverkeeper, Jeff Currie: With our partner, the Southern Environmental Law Center, we submitted an application for the American Rivers, Most Endangered Rivers List of 2026 program. Due to the extreme PFAS contamination of waterways and drinking water in the Lumber River Watershed, the Lumber River was chosen as the 4th most endangered river. Please check out this weeks announcement from American Rivers, and stay tuned for some follow up throughout the year.
