Be a River Hero: Lead a Cleanup and Get Featured as River Hero of the Week!
Our rivers are the lifeblood of our community. But they need our help to stay healthy and vibrant. Winyah Rivers Alliance is shining a spotlight on our local River Heroes! We are looking for individuals, families, local businesses, clubs, and organizations to partner with us for your river cleanup.
Love your river? Prove it.
How it works
- You volunteer. Grab your crew (1 or more), pick a date, and spend a few hours cleaning up and protecting our watershed by land or water.
- We can provide the gloves, trash bags, grabbers, and the expertise if needed.
- We celebrate. Your hard work will be featured in our newsletter and on social media as a “WRA River Hero of the Week!”
Who can be a River Hero?
Anyone who cares about our rivers. Your crew can be just you, your family, a group of friends, a school class, a club or your coworkers. Local businesses, schools, clubs, groups, or more: we want YOU in the spotlight!
Meet some of our River Heroes
In one River Heroes of the Week feature, volunteers Johnny and Mike cleaned up Rocky Point Community Forest and Pringles Ferry on the Black River. And in August, our River Hero of the Week, Evi Locklear, took on swim guide sampling for most of the Lumber River sites. (Read Evi’s feature)
